Family Reunions in New York City
New York City is really a great place to hold a family reunion. There are really more things to see, do and experience than almost any other destination you can choose. Most families enjoy visiting a great attraction or going on a tour together during their reunion. NYC has plenty of options to choose from that would satisfy either of these needs.
Since New York is filled with tall buildings, it is only natural that one of the most-popular choices families make is to visit one of them. The most-commonly though of tall building is the Empire State Building. It was built during the Great Depression and it went up fast! The building has an observation deck on the 102nd floor as well as a gift shop. From here you can see from miles away. If you visit at night, you can see Times Square all lit up, which is a uniqe experience as well.
Another one of the tall buildings to consider is the observation deck at One World Observatory. Now the tallest building in the United States, this modern building offers an amazing view of Lower Manhattan and beyond. From here you can easily see the Empire State Building, the Statue of LIberty and beyond. Tickets are a little more expensive than for Empire, but the experience is better for many and worth the difference in cost.
Perhaps the most-underrated observation deck is for Rockefeller Center known as "Top of the Rock". This building has an amazing view of all of NYC and Central Park. It also offers transparent observation walls and the deck is really three floors together. It is an interactive experience that most people enjoy.
Family Reunions also love tours. There are many different tours available in NYC. The most-popular tours include Double Decker buses. There are two major companies who operated in NYC. These are Hop-on/Hop-off tours. It is easy to get a large group on at the beginning of the tour, but if you decide to get off of the bus as a group, you will most-likely not get back on the bus as a large group as space would normally not be available.
One final experience groups enjoy is a Broadway Play. These are normally held at night, though some do offer matinee performances. Tickets can get pricey, even for groups, but going to a play together can be a very rewarding experience.
